You can’t credibly proclaim your fealty to Free and Fair elections and then lie and cheat in all directions. Ten Wisconsin MAGAts forged papers in 2020 claiming that they were the WI Electors, not the Biden slate. New the GQP plans to take this national, to steal the 2024 election for Trump on the basis of The Big Lie. Then we saw dozens of bogus lawsuits and multiple fraudulent “audits” of state results, all of which turned out to be just fine.
The outline of the plan is well known:
- Keep selling the Big Lie to the base, with help from foreign countries.
- Terrorize and drive out current election officials.
- Wherever possible, substitute Trump loyalists for all election officials.
- Pass draconian laws to suppress voting.
- Make the vote irrelevant by pretending to authorize legislatures to name their state’s Presidential Electors.
Rachel Maddow, in reporting on this story, said recently that Wisconsin has lapped Arizona as the state where The Big Lie is most pernicious, where Republicans are most committed to destroying democratic ideals. Unfortunately it is being tried everywhere, even in Blue states with Democrat-controlled legislatures and Democratic governors. It matters not one whit to the grifters whether those laws get passed and become law, or whether they get thrown out as unconstitutional and otherwise illegal in the courts. This is performance art for riling up The Base.
If it works, and the pols get elected, that’s fine with them. If they lose, but they rile up the rubes, that’s fine with the Party and its consultants, too. Either way the contributions roll in.

The voter fraud you didn’t hear about: Wisconsin’s Electoral College imposters
Law Forward is requesting an investigation of ten individuals — fraudulent presidential electors — who attempted to hijack the results of our state’s November election. On behalf of the Service Employees International Union’s (SEIU’s) Wisconsin State Council and several individual voters, we ask for accountability, for enforcement of existing law, and for action that will protect future election results.

The peaceful transition of power is a non-partisan value. And while the former president may have escaped Senate conviction, there is still opportunity for accountability here in Wisconsin for others who have endangered our democracy. We must be committed to consequences for those who subvert our election results, no matter their political party.
