Truth wins. A tiny minority possessed of truth becomes a majority over time, as has happened on a range of issues, from “gay marriage” to guns and systemic racism. The Republican Southern strategy has unraveled—If we can make it stick. We know all of the ways of doing that, starting with just spreading the truth around, and on up to court challenges and creating non-profits and Running for Something. The Far Wrong is scared to death of truth, and tries everything it can think of to quash or co-opt it.
Let us celebrate the Good News of the season, the Truths that we can all share together. Chanukah, Buddhist Enlightenment Day, Yule, Christmas, Kwanzaa, the old Roman Saturnalia...The Disinformationists and White Supremacists can celebrate their Airing of Grievances, over everything that they are determined not to know, including their determined War on Christmas.
Their fundamental grievance, which they are not shy about explaining, is that they are now, for the first time, a distinct minority in the US. And not just a minority, but an election-losing minority, a court-case-losing minority, a minority that is steadily losing its previous iron grip on the levers of power in every aspect of American society.
