You and I can’t make this stuff up, but Wrong-Wingers do it every day. So We the People have to push back, and we have to count on our leaders to do so in equal measure. Which they are. We have to look directly at the lies, and counter them. And so we do.

It isn’t just the bogus Weaponization Subcommittee. It’s every weaponized moral panic going back to Mr. Lincoln’s War, when he tricked the South into shooting back first, and beyond. Jews, Catholics, Quakers, Mormons…French Jacobin revolutionaries, long before there were Communists to rage on about...Prosecuting newspapers for printing the truth about Congress under the Alien and Sedition Acts, with the approval of George Washington...Immigrants coming to take our jobs and destroy WASP civilization…Jim Crow and the Klans...Eugenics...
The lying Wrong-Wing minority has enough gerrymanders and voter suppression in place to hold on to some power in our government for now, but they are in such deep despair over their future prospects that they grotesquely overreach at every opportunity, driving even more voters away for the next cycle. Still, they are so deep in Cognitive Dissonance that they are able to keep prophesying victory to the False Believers, no matter how many defeats pile up.
Sen. Johnson (R-WI), in his opening Gish Gallop in the Weaponization Subcommittee, railed against covid vaccines, Fauci, and the World Health Organization (“obviously” captured by the Chinese government) in testimony before new subcommittee. Also unfair treatment of 1/6 rioters, and whether the riot was the Justice Dept’s fault to begin with. How many Federal agents or informants were in the crowd as provocateurs, to rile up innocent Trump supporters?
