Same old same old. Ds saving the US and the world; Rs tearing down everything, including each other; indictment watch; Joe Manchin (No Labels) is delusional, and so is Cornel West (Green Party). Meanwhile Good News continues to pop up everywhere.

NYT (paywalled): Joe Manchin is Dreaming, by Jamelle Bouie

Non-partisanship is a fantasy.

The Hill: Democratic jitters grow over Cornel chWest’s third-party bid

It would be good to allow third-party candidates to run without messing up the main contest. We can talk about ranked-choice voting, but first we need to fix the Electoral College. Not today, though. I write other Diaries, and will bring them up for separate consideration.

Mitch McConnell had a worrying episode during a press conference in which he was praising bipartisan actions in Congress, and froze mid-sentence. His aides led him back to his office, where he appeared dazed, and didn’t seem to know where he was. He recovered after a few minutes. There was no word yesterday on what might have been the cause, and whether McConnell was getting medical care. We know that he is back to normal because he resumed making nasty jokes about President Biden. BTW, don’t cheer for McConnell being ill, and at some point having to step down. Even Republicans deserve to be treated as real people, and besides, there are worse behind him.

But let us put aside for a moment the paskudnyaks and those trying to drag us into their nightmares, while we offer them the opportunity to wake up.

How are you?

Are you getting woker? Are you feeling better about our chances in the elections and after, and about all of the good things we are getting done around the world? Do you like doing maximum good for all, even those who can’t stand it?
