George W. Bush was asked whether he had ever done anything wrong, but chose to answer whether he had made a business mistake. Donald Trump has been asked whether he has done anything wrong, and answered flatly, “No.” Many Evangelical Christians hold that all of their sins, past, present, and future, have been forgiven. This is the worst of bad karma. So, what’s the good stuff?
Suffering is caused by attachment to greed, anger, and delusion, so relinquishing these three poisons perpetually is a foundational Buddhist koan. This is not something we accomplish, but the beginning of endless training. This is what we volunteer for, over and over and over again. You have to keep at this until it is no longer something that you argue about with yourself, but just your nature.
All the evil committed by me is caused by greed, anger, and delusion, which have no beginning. All the evil is committed by my body, mouth, and mind. I now confess everything wholeheartedly.
